CATHARINE W. MCCULLOCH PARK
Catharine W. McCulloch Park is a 1.7-acre park serving the community of northwest Evanston. Last renovated in 1994, significant deterioration had occurred, and the existing playground was not compliant with ADA codes and current playground safety standards. TERRA landscape architects worked with the City of Evanston on the redevelopment of the park and led the public engagement process with the residents, City staff, and key stakeholders. The renovated park includes a new playground with rubber surfacing and mounds, a plaza, basketball court replacements, new paths, seating areas, natural play elements, site lighting, and site drainage improvements. The project incorporated a historical marker and an inscription stone recognizing the work of the Evanston suffragette that serves as the park’s namesake.
