WHALON LAKE BOLINGBROOK TRAIL

Whalon Lake Park, part of the Forest Preserve District of Will County sought a new trail connection and shoreline stabilization project for an existing 249-acre forest preserve property, that includes a former quarry transformed into an 80-acre lake. The design includes two ADA-accessible multi-use path connections to an existing 2.36-mile trail system within the forest preserve. The north trail design was coordinated with the Village of Bolingbrook to include a new signalized pedestrian crossing on Royce Road. The new crossing includes solar-powered pedestrian-activated flashing beacons and a new bike and pedestrian trail, boardwalk, and retaining walls.
