CLARENDON HILLS METRA STATION

TERRA provided civil engineering, landscape architecture, and survey services associated with the development of a new Metra Station for the Village of Clarendon Hills on the Burlington Northern Sante Fe [BNSF] Railway. Landscape architecture designs were prepared for the development of a new Metra Station and Village Hall landscape and plazas. The landscape design was inspired by the differences between city and country life. As one leaves the station to go towards Chicago, the planting design transitions from a natural flowing design to a more ridged and intentional layout. Plant selections were all native or adaptive cultivars specifically chosen for all-season interest. Additionally, Terra worked closely with the architect and village to design plazas for the main train station and city hall. These included complementary planting, integral color paving with ornamental jointing, and rain gardens.
