VAN DER BROHE ARBORETUM
Van der Brohe Arboretum focuses on educating people about the flora and fauna of northern Wisconsin. Based in Two Rivers, Wisconsin of Manitowoc County the 65-acre site, formerly a golf course, will provide natural areas, a bird sanctuary, an art park, as well as a visitor’s center. The Arboretum will become an important link for birds on their migratory path. VDBA sits between the East Twin River to the West and Lake Michigan to the West. The design is focused on organizing the park into landscape typologies such as woodland, meadow, grassland, savanna mixed, and lowland riparian. The natural ecology of the site is pertinent to the overall design and function of the park. Native wildlife species and their needs are taken into major consideration for the park design. Assuring there is a proper habitat is essential. The visitor will be able to learn about native and non-native tree species as well as about the multitude of landscape types that are possible in the area.
